Monmouth, Ill.  —
Monmouth College English professor Craig Watson received the 2013 Hatch Academic Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching.

The Hatch Academic Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching recognizes Monmouth College faculty for outstanding work in teaching, scholarship and service. Alumni nominate teachers who had an impact on their experience the college and winners are selected by alumni votes.

Watson has been a faculty member at Monmouth College since 1986. He was the coordinator of the citizenship course required for all Monmouth College seniors and provided leadership for the honors program.

Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College and the University of Illinois, a master's degree from California State University San Francisco and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Watson will be formally recognized for his Hatch Award during homecoming weekend festivities in October.
