GALESBURG — A Peoria man arrested for unlawful use of a weapon early Monday morning allegedly shot his gun in the air, which prompted the police to respond to the incident.

Michael Lamar Harper, 35, was outside an apartment complex at Praireland Apartments when he fired his 9- mm handgun twice in the air. Harper came to the complex with Little Ingram, 33, of Peoria to visit Kendrick Johnson, 33, of Southaven, Miss.

Johnson’s daughter, Keila Butler, 19, 1574 McKnight St., told police Harper was having a conversation outside with Willie Williams, 26, of Peoria when the shots were fired. Williams was not hurt.

This was the second incident of a firearm being discharged in a week. On Thursday, six shots were fired at a black SUV near Knox College. Harper was not connected to the Thursday shooting.
